Sophie grew up in the West Midlands and now lives in Sutton Coldfield with her Husband and two young children.

After completing her degree at the University of York, she joined KPMG LLP in 2004 on their Audit graduate training scheme. She trained with the Public Sector Audit team, gaining her Chartered Accountancy qualification in 2007. Throughout her career in that team, she gained experience across the Public Sector, including in NHS bodies, Local Government bodies, Charities and Housing Associations working as both an internal and external auditor.   When she left the team as a Director in 2018, she was Head of Internal Audit for an NHS body as well as being responsible for signing external audit opinions on Financial Statements for NHS and local government bodies. Throughout her time in these roles, Sophie interacted closely with Boards and Audit Committees, including facilitation of training in key areas of governance such as risk management.

Since 2018, Sophie has worked within one of KPMG’s key central compliance teams to support the audit function in delivering high quality audits, that meet the standards of the regulator, by overseeing the development of key resources to support standardisation and high quality audit documentation as well as supporting individual teams in interpreting audit methodology. She is the Subject Matter Expert within that team for Public Sector and Education sector audits.

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family, singing in a local choir and is a keen cook and baker.
